Sally has been painting in watercolours since she was a small child. Art has been her lifelong passion and the feeling she has for her subjects is so intimately reflected in her studies and has resulted in highly acclaimed exhibitions in the UK, South Africa and Zambia.

Mary lives in Milford on Sea, taking inspiration from different aspects of her life, particularly the landscape. The creative process itself is equally inspiring by working with the reaction of the watercolour and ink to the paper.

Stephen Powell has a BA (Hons) Degree in Fine Art and Printmaking from Hornsey School of Art in London. He has exhibited widely throughout the UK and Europe and has work in numerous private and public collections.

Andy lives and works in Lymington. After leaving Brockenhurst College Sixth Form, Andy studied at Rytecotewood College of Agricultural Engineering in Thame, Oxfordshire.

Born in Poland, Arkadiuz now lives and works in the New Forest. He creates his vessels from white stoneware clay, a strong and resilient medium. His desire is to create unique pieces that will stand the test of time, and which he can ’leave behind in the world’ for future generations.

Caroline admires the work of Howard Hodgkin, particularly his use of colour; and a fascination with capturing movement and digital pixilation reflects her background in television.

Chris likes painting foliage and ‘the chaotic, messy bits of nature – the bits people walk past or over without noticing’. Working in oils and at life size, Chris has a meticulous eye for detail and a wonderfully quirky view of the world.

Inspired by the Hampshire and Dorset coast, and the New Forest, Claire’s distinctive square, semi-abstract canvases subtly combine layers of oil paint with fragments of collage. She scratches through the layers of paint to reveal the colours and textures hidden beneath.

Gail has a first class honours degree in Three Dimensional Design from Bath Spa University. In her final year, Gail specialised in ceramics and exhibited her work at New Designers in London – the annual showcase for the UK’s top graduate designers.

Jackie just loves making pots – a passion that began at Southampton College of Art when she was seventeen. She now has her own studio in the New Forest. Jackie has exhibited throughout the UK and won prestigious ceramics awards for her stunning work.

Jo has a background in Art History but, in 2007, discovered a love of making jewellery. From her studio just outside Lymington, Jo creates bespoke designs and unique handmade collections from silver, gold and semi-precious stones.

Julie moved to Milford on Sea in 2014, and is inspired by the wonderful Hampshire coast line, translating it into ‘abstractions of reality'. She is fascinated by the feel of the landscape and always works in series, her studio becoming a three-dimensional ‘sketchbook’ of ideas and experiments.

Fascinated by narratives of time and place, Michael's work is informed by experiences of remote rural environments where tidal cycles, prevailing weather and changing light conditions imprint memories, influencing the recall of a specific place.

Michael has come along way since graduation in Design in 1997. At the beginning of his career, working from his parents garage, he used nuts and bolts and reclaimed steel to create all sorts of animals, reptiles and bugs.

Nicola is a sculptor making functional and decorative art for interiors and the outdoors. Her work is an intriguing and magical combination of the real and the imagined, with inspiration drawn from storytelling and traditional narrative forms.

Sheila is based in Ringwood and originally trained as a graphic designer. Her work has a distinctive graphic style combined with stunning use of colour, and is largely inspired by the Dorset and Hampshire landscape.

Victor lives by the sea and loves boats. He originally trained as a graphic designer, followed by a MA in Textile Design at the Royal College of Art in London.

The Lymington Arts Group promotes the enjoyment and appreciation of visual arts and crafts by providing meetings, workshops and outings. We hold bi-annual exhibitions of members works, one in Lymington in the Spring and a Summer one on Milford village green in August.
